Yandex a company that builds smart and intelligent products that are based on machine learning announced that it will showcase its self-driving cars during the CES 2020 event that is taking place in the US this year. It will show customers its new model of self-driving autonomous cars in Las Vegas.
After the CES event ends it will start a taxi service in Detroit and also participate in the American International Auto Show which is due to take place in June this year.
Yandex is a multinational giant involved in the manufacturing and designing of smart products and services also including transportation, e-commerce, navigation, mobile applications, and online advertising.
Yandex is participating in the CES for the second consecutive year and is showcasing to the visitors it’s new autonomous vehicles. The vehicles are being driven in the neighborhood area of the Hard Rock Hotel in the driverless mode. It is expected to perform left turns in the autonomous mode and navigate through the multilane streets and crosswalks in the presence of heavy traffic at high speeds of up to 45 miles per hour.
The body of the vehicles is designed by Toyota but has been remodelled with the help of hardware and software manufactured and designed by Yandex. It also includes a sensor array that enables the self-driving vehicles to track traffic and people more accurately around it and drive through them.
Dmitry Polishchuk the head of Yandex’s self-driving vehicles told that he was delighted to be back in the US for the CES event in a second consecutive year. According to him, the vehicles have been tested in rigorous conditions to test the safety parameters of the vehicles and understand its self-driving potential. It is he who declared that the Russian firm will be launching its Robo-taxi in Detroit sometime during the month of June and also participate in the Auto Show.
